Shola Shonowo, M.D.


Dr. Shonowo received her medical degree from University of Texas at Galveston and completed her residency training at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. She is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She practiced general OB/GYN in Pennsylvania before joining the staff at Raritan Bay Medical Center and the faculty at UMDNJ – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in 2005.  Her special focus areas include hysteroscopic surgery which may provide women an alternative to hysterectomy, and minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery including laparoscopic hysterectomy. Dr. Shonowo, her husband and three children enjoy traveling and discovering new places and people, she also enjoys skiing and mountain biking.

Dr. Shonowo founded SAS OBGYN, a  private practice located in Fords, New Jersey dedicated to providing Comprehensive Healthcare for Women.  Her objective is to partner with her patients towards optimizing their health care outcomes. 

She remains on the faculty of  the UMDNJ – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School on a part time basis where she is able to lend her expertise as a Clinical Instructor involved in the training of resident doctors.
